WATER IN INDONESIA

On Subu Island in East Indonesia we have a project to build water wells, with help from other clubs in our district, and The Rotary Foundation through a matching grant. Lack of water is a major concern of this island community, as are education and Malaria. Beaumaris Rotary Club is looking at ways to assist the Sabunese people deal with these problems.

DONATIONS

Donations are made to Rotary projects such as Shelterbox, which provide emergency shelter in disaster areas around the world and Aquabox, which provides water treatment equipment and supplies. We also donate to RAM (Rotary against malaria), ROMAC (Medical aid for children) as well as Interplast, an organisation which sends volunteer surgical teams to developing countries.

WATERTANKS IN PNG

Through District 9810 Safe Water Saves Lives, we assist with the building of water tanks in villages in Papua New Guinea and other developing countries. There is a SWSL team going to PNG in September 2008 to build water tanks at villages in Oro province.

EDUCATION IN PNG

We are continuing our sponsorship for the education of a young PNG lady who comes from a large family with very little opportunity for a further education. Our club pays her university fees and assists with transport costs to get to the university campus. She is studing Agriculture at Papondetta University
