Rotary is a volunteer organisation with over 1,200,000 members and 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. The organisation initiates humanitarian programs that address today's challenging issues, such as hunger, poverty, and illiteracy.

Rotarians represent a cross-section of business and professional leaders worldwide. These 1.2 million men and women donate their expertise, time, and funds to support local and international projects that help people in need and promote understanding among cultures.

Rotary's flagship program is its effort to protect children against polio, with the goal of ending the disease throughout the world.

The Rotary Club of Beaumaris was chartered in November 1985 by the Rotary Club of Cheltenham. There were 39 charter members, many of whom were members of the fathers activities club of Beaumaris North Primary School. By 1986 there were 59 members. Of the original charter members two are still active members of the club.

The club today has 39 active members and is fully involved in local and international community projects.

The members are a very friendly group who enjoy each others company, involve their families in club activities and provide valuable local and international networking opportunities.

Our club is one of the 51 Rotary Clubs in Rotary International District 9810 (South East Melbourne)
